Welcome and Introduction

Topics:

  • Chapter 4: Treasure One
  • Chapter 25: Wine and Cigars
  • Chapter 31: Kingdom Hunting

Kingdom Secret:

  • Seeking God’s kingdom is realizing the enormous value and the imperative nature of a personal relationship with God. Seeking is to pursue with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength a continuously increasing level of belief, trust, praise, knowledge, understanding, obedience, repentance, thanksgiving, and your love for God and for one another. It is to abide in Him and for Him to abide in you. A lifelong endeavor.

Discussion Questions:

- When we pray “Thy kingdom come, and thy will be done on earth,”

  1. What are we really asking for?
  2. What will be different when it happens?
  3. Why does Jesus even teach us to pray it?
  4. Good resource: https://www.gotquestions.org/thy-kingdom-come.html

- Can we have God’s kingdom here and now?

- What do you think Matthew meant when he wrote the word “first” regarding seeking?

- What does Jesus mean when he says we are to seek his righteousness?

- Is God interested in providing more than the essentials of life?

Scriptures & References

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31 ESV)

Saint Augustine defined virtue as “rightly ordered love.”
